Services will be Saturday for Mark Edward Olsen of Capitola, who died December 28 after a brief illness.  He was 42.
Born in San Jose, Mr. Olsen enjoyed summer excursions to Capitola with his family, and because of his love otf the ocean and the community, chose to live in Capitola as an adult.  He graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 1976.
Mr Olsen was a member of the Landscape Contractors Associaton of California.  He loved fishing and gardening.
"His "children" were the hundreds of plants he tended to in his work as a landscaper," said his wife, Kathleen Olsen.
Mr. Olsen is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his brother Cris Martin Olsen of Soquel; a sister-in-law; two aunts; an uncle; a nephew; and a niece.
Services will be at 1pm Saturday at Dominican Hospital Chapel in Santa Cruz.  Private cremation will be followed by burial at sea.
